How
To Check Materials Out Of The Library
|
|
Your Rockhurst University ID card is your library card
as well. At the bottom of your ID you will see a barcode,
and underneath that, a series of numbers that begin
with 10006. This series of numbers is your library card
number.
Be sure that you have your current Rockhurst ID on
hand to check out any materials from the library, including
reserve materials. It is a good idea to always carry
your ID to the library since you may not checkout any
materials without it. You may not check out materials
if you have overdue books or fines.
Register for
a Library Account
To check out materials from the library a staff member
will create an account for you in our computer system.
You will be given a unique identification number in
addition to your library account number. Rockhurst students,
faculty and staff are required to use their Rockhurst
email accounts * in their library accounts.
Register
online for your library account or visit the Circulation
Desk on the main floor of the library. Library accounts
expire at the end of each semester.
With this library card and unique borrower identification
number you may:
-
View your library account to see what you have
checked out, renew items, view any unpaid fees on
your account or view items on request from other
libraries;
-
Checkout items directly from other MOBIUS libraries;
-
Request items directly from the other libraries
in the online catalog.

|
Reactivate a Library Account
Every semester you must reactivate your library account.
You may reactivate
your account online or in person at the Circulation
Desk.

Renewing
Library Materials
|
|
Rockhurst University students, faculty and staff may
renew materials as long as another patron has not requested
the materials. Patrons must be in good standing and
have no overdues or fines in order to renew materials.
Some materials may be renewed through the patron's
library account via the online catalog. For instructions
on how to do online renewal, read the View
Your Library Account help sheet. *
Guests and Courtesy Card patrons may only renew materials
in person at the library.
|
|
Returning
Library Materials
|
|
You should return your materials no later than the due
date, otherwise you will be assessed an overdue fine.
Bring materials to the Circulation desk and place them
in the book drop at the north end of the desk. There
is an outside book drop near the front doors of the
library. You should deposit books here ONLY when the
library is closed.
|
|
|
|
Overdues
And Fines
|
|
Fines will be assessed for any materials not returned
on time. Patrons are responsible for paying replacement
charges, as well as fines, on any lost or damaged materials.
Patrons who have outstanding overdues will not be
allowed to checkout any other Rockhurst materials, including
reserves, or do Patron Initiated Borrowing, Visiting
Patron Borrowing or Interlibrary Loan until the overdue
is settled.

by faculty for use by students in their classes.

These materials are kept at the Circulation desk on
the main floor. Some of the materials include books,
photocopies, personal copies from faculty, computer
software, and audiovisual materials.

Electronic Reserve Room
The library has an electronic reserves service called
Docutek ERes. Some faculty use this method to provide
access to reserve materials for their students. This
service requires the student to have a password issued
to them by their faculty member in order to access the
material. Rockhurst University shares ERes with Avila
University and William Jewell College.
Information is available to students to help them understand
ERes include the Docutek
Electronic Reserves Student Guide (11KB)* and the
