Department of Education - Tenure Track Faculty Positions

Rockhurst University is a liberal arts, Catholic, Jesuit university located in Kansas City, Missouri, offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees.  The Department of Education is seeking candidates for two (2) full- time tenure track assistant professor positions beginning in August, 2010.

Candidates should hold a doctorate in education or related field.  ABD candidates will be considered. Responsibilities include: teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, advising graduate and undergraduate students, assessing certification portfolios, supervising  student teachers and portfolio mentees, and collaborating with other faculty in such capacities as accreditation preparation and continuous improvement of the department.  A commitment to scholarly activities and service both to Rockhurst and the external community is also required.

Experience teaching in K-12 schools and post-secondary levels and working with diverse populations and with a variety of learners is preferred.  We value diversity and demonstrate this in campus initiatives.

The two positions are:

-Generalist:  math education, educational psychology, foundations of education, and/or research methods

-Generalist:  social studies education, educational psychology, foundations of education, and/or research methods

Occupational Therapy - Tenure Track Faculty

The Department of Occupational Therapy at Rockhurst University, a Catholic Jesuit University in Kansas City, Missouri, announces the search for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position beginning in June 2010.  The appointment combines teaching responsibilities in the areas of neurorehabilitation with scholarship and service commensurate with academic life.

Qualifications include:  occupational therapist with doctoral degree (consideration will also be given to candidates who have made substantial progress toward the completion of a doctorate); 2+ years of clinical experience; previous teaching experience; eligibility for licensure in MO or KS.  Salary, rank, and benefits will be determined based upon experience and qualifications.

Exercise and Sport Science - Tenure Track Faculty

Rockhurst University, the Catholic Jesuit University in Kansas City, Missouri, seeks candidates for a full-time, tenure track position in Exercise and Sport Sciences beginning in January or August, 2010.  Qualifications:  Doctorate in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology preferred. ABD or Master’s considered.  Evidence of 3-5 years outstanding university-level teaching, grant-writing and extramural funding experience strongly preferred. 

Responsibilities: Teach a variety of core exercise science classes; advise students; promote program growth and academic quality; commitment to scholarly activities; supervise student interns.

Adjunct Instructor – Exercise and Sport Science

Spring 2010

Rockhurst University is seeking an Adjunct instructor to teach one Spring semester, 2010 course—Psychosocial Aspects of Exercise and Sport. This 3 credit hour course is a survey course that examines the psychological and sociological constructs of contemporary American sport and exercise.  Requirements:  Instructor must have Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology; PhD preferred. Related degree and teaching or other academic experience in a related field such as the Social Sciences or Psychology may be considered.
