Please follow the instructions
below to access the public
wireless network.
- The public wireless
network is a “pay as you go” Internet
connection hotspot that works
anywhere on the Rockhurst University campus.
- These instructions are
intended for computers running Windows
XP.
- Computers running Windows
2000 are supported on the RU Wireless
network, however, in order to connect, you
will need to consult your wireless network
card manufacturer's software documentation.
- If you are using a Macintosh
computer, again it is supported, but you
will need consult your operating system
documentation to figure out how to connect
to the "public" ssid.

Double-click on the wireless
connection icon.

Select "Open Network Connections."

Double-click on the "Wireless Network
Connection" icon.

Select "Properties" from the "Wireless
Network Connection Status" dialog box.

In the "Wireless Network Connection Properties"
dialog box, click on the "Wireless Networks" tab.

Select "rockhurst (Automatic)" in the
"Preferred networks" window. If you do not
see “rockhurst” listed, then skip to step 8.

Click the "Remove" button.

Click the "Add" button.

In the "Network name (SSID)" field, type
"public." Note: this is case-sensitive and should be all lower case.

Select "Disabled" in the "Data encryption" drop-down
box.

Click "OK" in the "public properties"dialog
box.

You should now see "public (Automatic)
in the "Preferred networks" window. Click the "OK" button and wait 30 seconds
to 1 minute.

Your network connection should associate to the public access-point. When the adapter associates, you will see a message similar to one below. After you have configured
your wireless settings, open Internet Explorer. You will be
transferred to Rockhurst University Wifi Portal.

You
will be transferred to the New Customer Signup page. Here you can select a wireless plan, enter customer information, and credit card information.
Note: This is a secure site and all information is encrypted.
If you are a returning customer, enter
your username followed by @rockhurst, then your password. If this
is your first time connecting to the Rockhurst University Wifi Portal, click on “New
Account.”

After filling out the form,
click on "sign up." You are now able to use the public
wireless network, just like any other hotspot.
