The following courses and lectures will be sponsored by the Thomas More Center during the spring semester 2008.

The Thomas More Center will sponsor two courses in the spring 2008 semester as part of the Rockhurst University minor program in Catholic Studies. Both courses are open to any registered Rockhurst student. No previous background or training is required.

Rev. Jan Michael Joncas, "The State of Catholic Liturgical Music in the 21st Century"

Father Joncas, a well-known composer of liturgical music and a theologian at the University of St. Thomas and Notre Dame, will review trends and themes in contemporary American Catholic liturgical music, and will comment on the nature of sacred music in 21st century America. 

The presentation will combine lecture, PowerPoint media, audio tracks and musical performances by Father Joncas.

The lecture is free and open to the public.
