Center for Arts and Letters Selects Scotland as 2010 Destination
Guid gear comes in sma’ bouk (good things come in small packages) is an old Scots saying that aptly describes The Center for Arts and Letters’ 2010 destination. Despite its size, Scotland is packed with treasures: sophisticated cities, stunning castles, magnificent scenery and superb malt whisky. Join us for the April 21-30 Scotland Tour.

Overnight stays include Edinburgh, Inverness and Glasgow. These cities, remarkable as they are, also provide the perfect home base for included day trips.
Edinburgh, with its 800-year-old castle dominating the skyline from its craggy perch, is one of the most beautiful and well-preserved historic cities in Europe. The city’s breathtaking views spring from every turn—from the open spaces of Princess Street Gardens to the quiet Georgian streets of New Town to the tiny hidden corners in Old Town. A visit to St. Andrews, home of Scotland’s oldest existing university (1411), to wander the medieval cobbled streets and narrow alleys and to visit the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, the oldest golf club in the world.

Inverness, situated on the River Ness, will be our base to explore the Highlands and the Islands—where legends thrive and heather-clad hillsides, snow-capped mountains and sparkling lochs abound. We’ll travel by ferry to the Isle of Skye.

Glasgow’s breathtaking Victorian architecture, pre-Reformation Gothic cathedral, imposing university buildings and elegant Georgian squares built by wealthy tobacco barons make this city one of Scotland’s most-visited sights.
