Greg Herdlick enters his ninth season as the head coach of the Rockhurst women’s soccer program. The Hawks have posted seven winning seasons under Herdlick, who has an overall record of 81-53-8 and is the fourth winningest coach in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a .599 winning percentage.
Herdlick guided the Hawks to a 16-9-1 conference record and a pair of postseason tournament appearances in their first two seasons in the GLVC. The Hawks finished fourth in the conference standings and advanced to the GLVC Tournament semifinals in 2005.
In 2002 and 2003, the Hawks combined for 24 victories. Rockhurst outscored its opponents 42-14 in 2003 and shut out seven of its opponents.
Two of Herdlick's players (Kari Dwyer and Kelly Fitzpatrick) received All-Region recognition in 2003. The Hawks defeated Division II national runner-up Nebraska-Omaha 2-0 during the 2003 season.
Herdlick graduated from Rockhurst in 1993 with a degree in accounting. He was a four-year starter for the Rockhurst soccer team. He was a second-team All-American defender in 1992 and the team captain of the 1993 team. He played in the NAIA national tournament four consecutive years.
Prior to replacing Chico Borja as the women’s head coach at Rockhurst in 1998, Herdlick was an assistant coach for the RU women's team. He was also an assistant coach of the women’s high school teams at Shawnee Mission South and Shawnee Mission East. He helped coach SM East to a Kansas Class 6A state championship and coached Pele’s U20 soccer club to a pair of Kansas state titles.
Herdlick completed his master’s degree in business administration in 1996 at Rockhurst. He is currently director of operations at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City.
Herdlick and his wife, Kelly, reside in Lee's Summit, Mo., with their son, Sam, who was born in June of 2005.
