Head Coach Rebecca Morrisey

morriseyRebecca Morrisey enters her seventh season as the head coach of the Rockhurst Hawks. She also currently serves as the Senior Woman Administrator for the Hawks.

Morrisey came to Rockhurst in 2001 after spending 18 years teaching and coaching at the high school level at Spearville (Kan.) High School from 1984-91 and Leavenworth (Kan.) High School from 1991-2001.

At Spearville, she served as an assistant and head coach during a six-year span that saw her teams finish second twice and win four state championships in a row. She was named the Class 2A Coach of the Year in 1989 and 1990, while her teams posted a 51-1 record. She was named Coach of the Year for all classes in 1990.

At Leavenworth, Morrisey was named Sunflower League Coach of the Year in 1993. She served on the National Federation of State High School Associations Basketball Rules Committee from 1995-1998. In 1996, she earned her master’s degree in educational administration from Benedictine College. She was named Kansas Association of Secondary School Principals Area I Assistant Principal of the Year in 1999.

Morrissey received her bachelor’s degree in mathematics with an emphasis in secondary education in 1983 from St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City, Kan., where she played basketball for the Saints. She graduated from Atwood High School, where she was a three-sport varsity letterwinner and honor student.

She is married to Shawn Morrisey and lives in Leavenworth, Kan. They have three children: Adam, Christopher and Erin. Erin is a junior on the Rockhurst basketball team.
