Soccer: RU women post highest GPA in the country

The Rockhurst Hawks finished with the highest grade point average in the country among all collegiate women's soccer programs as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) recently announced the recipients of the College Team Academic Award for the 2006-07 academic year.

The NSCAA honors collegiate soccer teams each year for posting a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The Hawks accumulated a 3.68 GPA for the 2006-07 academic year. In 2005-06, the Hawks finished fifth in the country with a 3.60 GPA.

"Finishing with the highest team GPA is a tremendous achievement," said Rockhurst coach Greg Herdlick. "I think this speaks well for the intelligence, work ethic and the character of this team. I am thrilled for our players and proud that they represent Rockhurst University as true student-athletes."

The Rockhurst men's soccer team also earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award. The Hawks finished with a 3.21 GPA, which tied for 28th among all men's programs in the country. Rockhurst was one of only 71 schools to have both of their soccer teams receive the NSCAA Team Academic Award in 2006-07.
