Women's Basketball: Hawks drop GLVC home opener
The Rockhurst Hawks dropped their Great Lakes Valley Conference home opener, falling to Missouri-Rolla, 69-56, Thursday night at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House. Box Score
Rolla broke away from the Hawks shortly after Rockhurst grabbed a 32-31 lead early in the second half. The Miners went on a 13-2 run to take a 55-42 lead around the 10-minute mark.
Rolla ended the game on a 14-8 run.
Sophomore forward Julie Cook paced Rockhurst with nine points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. Sophomore guard Erin Morrisey totaled nine points and four assists. Senior center Courtney Farmer scored a team-high 11 points.
The Hawks hit 41.8 percent of their field goals (23 of 55), while UMR connected on 27 of 59 shots (45.8 percent). Rolla also won the rebound department, 44-31.
The Hawks, 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the GLVC, host Missouri-St. Louis Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
