Women's Basketball: Hawks capture 86-59 victory over Avila

Sophomore forward Julie Cook tallied 19 points and four steals to lead the Rockhurst Hawks to an 86-59 victory over Avila Monday night at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House. Box Score

Cook connected on seven of 11 field goals, including two of three on 3-pointers. She also recorded six rebounds and two assists in 31 minutes.

Senior center Courtney Farmer posted 15 points and six blocked shots. Freshman guard Ali Fromm sank four 3-point shots and finished with 14 points.

Sophomore forward Amy Hake, freshman guard Kate Carr and freshman forward Tori Hartin added nine points apiece.

Rockhurst, which led 40-27 at halftime, shot 45.6 percent from the field (31 of 68). Avila made 16 of 55 field goals (29.1 percent).

Avila won the rebound battle by a 44-42 margin. Farmer led the Hawks with seven rebounds.

The Hawks, 2-2, open Great Lakes Valley Conference play at Wisconsin-Parkside on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
