Women's Basketball: Hawks suffer 74-62 loss at Southwest Baptist
Southwest Baptist shot 65.2 percent from the field in the second half to rally past the Rockhurst Hawks 74-62 Tuesday night in Bolivar, Mo. Box Score
The Hawks, who led 35-33 at halftime, saw the Bearcats sink 15 of 23 field goals in the second half. SBU took the lead for good at the 16:55 mark and grabbed a nine-point lead with 9:18 left to play.
Senior center Courtney Farmer scored five of her team-high 21 points over the next two and a half minutes to bring the Hawks to within 58-54 of SBU. The Bearcats promptly scored the next seven points to take an 11-point lead.
Sophomore forward Julie Cook posted an impressive line with 13 points, nine rebounds, seven steals and six assists. Sophomore forward Amy Hake added 11 points and a team-high three 3-point baskets.
Rockhurst connected on 26 of 64 field goals for 40.6 percent shooting. SBU hit 29 of 52 shots (55.8 percent). The Bearcats also won the rebound battle by a 39-31 margin.
The Hawks return home to face Lincoln on Saturday at 6 p.m. and Avila on Monday at 7 p.m.
