Women's Basketball: Hawks fall at Lewis, 74-60
An 18-2 second-half run led the Lewis Flyers to a 74-60 victory over Rockhurst in Great Lakes Valley Conference action Saturday in Romeoville, Ill. Box Score
The Hawks, who trailed 39-31 at halftime, opened the second half on an 8-2 run. Sophomores Amy Hake and Julie Cook hit 3-point shots points and senior Courtney Farmer made a jumper to pull Rockhurst with two points at 41-39.
Lewis held Rockhurst to two points over the next seven minutes as the Flyers moved out to a 59-41 lead with 8:24 left to play. The Hawks missed seven shots in a row during that stretch.
Hake led the Hawks with 15 points on 6 of 10 shooting. Three of her shots came from behind the 3-point line.
Farmer finished with 12 points and five rebounds before fouling out with 3:54 remaining.
Cook, who scored six points on 2-of-16 shooting, recorded a team-high eight assists.
Rockhurst made 22 of 62 field goals for 35.5 percent shooting. Lewis drained 26 of 51 shots (51.0 percent). The Flyers won the rebound battle, 36-30.
The Hawks (2-4, 0-2 GLVC) return home to play Missouri-Rolla on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
