Volleyball: Four Hawks receive All-GLVC honors

Four players from Rockhurst were named to the 2007 All-Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Team, led by Emily Crowley who was also selected as the GLVC Freshman of the Year.

Crowley averaged 2.72 kills, 2.45 assists, 2.36 digs and 3.25 points per game while playing right side and setter for the Hawks. In conference games, she averaged 2.75 kills per game and a .232 hitting percentage.

"I love hitting the ball. I just like to play wherever I can help the team," said Crowley, who played at Marian High School. "I've been lucky this year in that I haven't been hurt."

Crowley has posted three triple-doubles and eight double-doubles this season. She finished in doubles figures in assists and digs 14 times, and posted 10 or more kills in 10 games.

"Emily is a versatile player," said Rockhurst coach Tracy Rietzke. "This award is nice recognition and well deserving. I think she will continue to get better."

Crowley also received All-GLVC second team honors along with senior middle hitter Rachel Fowler, who is second on the team in kills and second in the GLVC in blocks.

Senior setter Amanda Hydorn and junior outside hitter Audrey Boese were named to the All-GLVC Third Team. Hydorn ranks 10th in the GLVC in assists and Boese leads the team in kills.
