Men's Basketball: Hawks drop exhibition finale at Wichita State
The Rockhurst Hawks suffered a 71-47 loss to Wichita State Saturday night in their final exhibition game of the 2006-07 season at Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kan. Box Score
Wichita State jumped out to a 26-6 lead in the first half and took a 45-21 lead into halftime.
The Hawks played the Shockers even in the second half, 26-all.
Junior guard Joey Deas and junior center John Torson led the Hawks with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Torson also had a team-high five rebounds and five blocked shots.
Deas and Torson both shot 4-of-11 from the field as the Hawks had a field-goal percentage of 34.6 percent (18 of 52). Senior forward Jon-Erik Price added eight points on 4-of-6 shooting.
Junior guard Sean Ogirri led Wichita State with 12 points on four 3-pointers. The Shockers connected on 24 of 51 field goals for 47.1 percent shooting.
Wichita State outrebounded Rockhurst, 38-27. Senior center Kyle Wilson paced the Shockers with seven rebounds.
The Hawks open the regular season on Friday against St. Cloud State in the American Family Insurance Hoopster Classic at 8 p.m. in St. Cloud, Minn.
