Men's Basketball: Hawks fall short at UW-Parkside, 60-54
The Rockhurst Hawks fell short of winning their sixth game in a row, falling to Wisconsin-Parkside 60-54 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference opener Thursday night in Somers, Wis.

The Hawks, who led 30-28 at halftime, took a 44-39 lead on a layup by Jon-Erik Price with 8:28 left to play. Parkside went on a 10-0 run over the next four minutes to take the lead for good at 49-44.
Junior guard Joey Deas paced the Hawks with 17 points on five of 12 shooting from the field. Four of his shots came from beyond the three-point line in the first half, including three straight to give Rockhurst a 27-24 lead.
Junior center John Torson added 11 points and five blocked shots. Senior forward Kevin Martin posted nine points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Rockhurst connected on 19 of 48 field goals for 39.6 percent shooting. Parkside hit 23 of 48 shots (47.9 percent). The Rangers also won the rebound battle by a 35-26 margin.
The Hawks (5-2, 0-1 GLVC) face Lewis on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Romeoville, Ill.
