Men's Basketball: Hill receives GLVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award
The Great Lakes Valley Conference has selected Rockhurst's Aaron Hill as the 2008-09 Scholar-Athlete of the Year in men's basketball.
Hill received his Accounting degree in December and is currently working on his MBA at Rockhurst. He was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America third team and ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team in 2008-09.
The junior from Canton, Mo., led Rockhurst to an appearance in the GLVC Tournament and NCAA Midwest Regional. He averaged 20.0 points per game and shot 45.6 percent from the 3-point line for the Hawks, who finished with a 19-11 overall record and 13-4 conference record. Hill was named the GLVC Player of the Year and was a first-team All-GLVC selection. He was also named to the D-II Bulletin All-American Second Team.
The GLVC selects one student-athlete in each conference sport to be designated the GLVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. This award is based upon athletic accomplishments, both team and individual, and academic performance in the season upon which the award is based. Each conference member has the opportunity to nominate one individual from its team for the award. Nominees must have a cumulative grade point average which meets Academic All-American standards (3.30), and freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible for the award. The voting is done by each institution's Faculty Athletic Representative. |
