Release: Hawks place 106 on Academic All-GLVC Team
Rockhurst placed 106 student-athletes on the Academic All-Great Lakes Valley Conference Team for the 2008-09 school year.
The GLVC honored 1,122 student-athletes combined from its 13 member schools, with each having maintained a 3.30 cumulative grade point average or have earned a 3.40 GPA in the previous two semesters.
Nineteen Rockhurst student-athletes were named to the Academic All-GLVC team for the fourth straight year: Steve Braun, Chad Hatcher and Mike Walczuk from baseball; Kyle Hummer from men's golf; Caleb Haydon from men's soccer; Adam Bales from men's tennis; Katie Flott, Nicole Randolph, Heather Robertson and Kelli Vanderwell from softball; Julie Cook from women's basketball; Carmen Titus from women's golf; Sarah Anderson, Samantha Lester, Lisa Schwarz, Katie Vogt and Lindsey Williams from women's soccer; and Kandice Belanger and Hannah Lazenby from women's tennis.
The Hawks also had 21 student-athletes honored with Academic All-GLVC distinction for a third time, including Frank Allen, Tyler Knust, Tom Stevison, Nick Troilo and Jeff Wilson from baseball; Jeff Barnthouse, Tyler Knust and Jake Meyer from men's basketball; Ryan Roepke from men's golf; Walker Moskop and Kyle Samuelson from men's soccer; Kristen Benes and Lindsay Williams from softball; Kate Carr, Gloria Crawford, Amy Hake and Meghan Hurley from women's basketball; Bridget Coulton from women's golf; Amy Lindley and Alyssa Miller from women's soccer; and Caitlin Buckley from women's tennis.
Women's soccer led the way with 20 academic honorees. The following is the breakdown for the other 10 sports: baseball (17), men's basketball (6), men's golf (3), men's soccer (6), men's tennis (4), women's basketball (11), women's golf (6), softball (15), women's tennis (8) and volleyball (9).
