Carolina Mayorga-Perry was named the new men’s and women’s tennis coach on Feb. 6, 2008. She replaced Kendell Hale, who coached the Hawks from 1996-2007.
"Carolina has an impressive background in directing tennis programs," said Rockhurst Director of Athletics Richard Konzem. "She was an outstanding collegiate player and is currently one of the top amateur players in the Kansas City area."
Mayorga-Perry was a two-time All-American at the University of Kentucky in 2001-02. She was an NCAA doubles semifinalist and ranked No. 3 in the nation. She was also the recipient of the National Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship in 2002.
A recipient of the Southeastern Conference Community Service Award in 2002, Mayorga-Perry was a four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection. Prior to attending Kentucky, she was a national tennis champion in Columbia.
After graduating from Kentucky in 2003, Mayorga-Perry was an assistant tennis professional in Lexington, Ky. She has served as the director of tennis at the National Golf Club in Kansas City, Mo., since 2003.
Mayorga-Perry graduated from Kentucky with a degree in International Economics and Foreign Languages. She received her Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
