Carolina Mayorga-Perry took over as the men’s and women’s tennis coach on Feb. 6, 2008. She has guided the Hawks to tremendous success in her first three seasons.
The Rockhurst men earned their tenth consecutive bid to the NCAA Men's Tournament in 2010 and finished second in the GLVC. The Hawks captured the 2009 Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship and finished 26th in the ITA Division II national poll. Rockhurst hosted the first two rounds and advanced to the second round.
Mayorga-Perry also led the Rockhurst women to the finals of the GLVC Tournament and into the second round of the NCAA Midwest Regional in 2009. The Hawks were ranked 35th in the ITA Division II national poll.
She was named the GLVC Coach of the Year and ITA Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 2009.
Mayorga-Perry was a two-time All-American at the University of Kentucky in 2001-02. She was an NCAA doubles semifinalist and ranked No. 3 in the nation. She was also the recipient of the National Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship in 2002.
A recipient of the Southeastern Conference Community Service Award in 2002, Mayorga-Perry was a four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection. Prior to attending Kentucky, she was a national tennis champion in Colombia.
After graduating from Kentucky in 2003, Mayorga-Perry was an assistant tennis professional in Lexington, Ky. She has served as the director of tennis at the National Golf Club in Kansas City, Mo., since 2003.
Mayorga-Perry graduated from Kentucky with a degree in International Economics and Foreign Languages. She received her Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She is married to Dustin Perry, who is the assistant tennis coach for the Hawks. |
