Academic Break Times

In the interest of security, staffing and energy conservation residence hall facilities (except THV and OCH) may close during Christmas and Spring Breaks. Detailed information, including registration deadlines for break housing, will be sent to all residents prior to the beginning of each break period.  Failure to be out of the residence hall at the designated break closing time will result in a monetary fine.  Room payments do not cover such periods, so a daily rate will be charged for any break housing.  Students desiring to stay over breaks must register with the Office of Residence Life, Massman 4.  Failure to register to remain over a break period by the stated deadline may result in a surcharge added to the cost of break housing charge, or denial due to lack of space or staffing. Residence Halls remain open for Fall Break, Thanksgiving Break and Easter Break.
Dining Services during breaks:
Generally there is no dining services during breaks.  If dining services are provided residents will be notified of dining times and available locations.  Blocks may not be used during break periods.  Flex dollars, declining meal balances, cash, debit or credit cards will be the only transactions used during breaks that the halls are open. Please consider carefully your dining choices during the semester so that you have flex or declining balances available during breaks.

THV and OCH communities do not close for academic breaks. For security purposes THV/OCH Residents staying over breaks (fall break, Thanksgiving break, winter break and spring break) must register in the Office of Residence Life. Please contact the Office of Residence Life at (816) 501-4663 with questions.

Health and safety inspections will be done at every closing and during scheduled inspections. Staff will post signs 24 hours prior to starting inspections. For more information about health and safety inspections please contact the Office of Residence Life.
