Grading Policy

Grades

For undergraduates, Rockhurst uses a grading system of letter grades from A to F, with plus and minus utilizing plus and minus gradations (except there is no A+ or D-), with graduated point values from 0 to 4.0. For graduate students, only five grades are given: A, B+, B, C and F. An incomplete grade will lapse to an F six weeks after the end of the term. Instructors cannot issue grades of W (withdrawal). Failure to withdraw properly will result in an F for the course.

Viewing Grades

Currently-enrolled students may view their midterm and final session or semester grades on Oracleweb in a secure environment if they have obtained a Personal Identification Number (PIN) from Computer Services. Final grades are available for viewing after the close of the academic session or semester.

Midterm grades, issued for undergraduate students, are progress reports only and do not affect the student's GPA. Undergraduate advisors may also view their advisee's midterm grades on Oracleweb. Midterm grades provide an opportunity for students and advisors to discuss academic progress.

Pass/No Pass Grading Option

The pass/no pass grading option is available to undergraduate students who are in good academic standing (a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00) and who have achieved junior status. Eligible students may exercise the option for strictly elective courses only; i.e., courses taken to fulfill core, major, or minor requirements cannot be taken for pass/no pass grading. The pass/no pass registration option can be requested in the student advisor's office during the period of time between the first and last day for delayed entrance into classes. Weather Policy

In the event of inclement weather, the university will contact local television and radio stations to announce the cancellation of classes. In addition, class cancellation will be posted on the Rockhurst University website.
