Instructions for first-time Windows users plugged into our residence hall network, open ports on campus or wireless access.
1) Once physically or wirelessly connected to the network open a web bowser.
2) You should be automatically re-directed to the Rockhurst/Perfigo login page.
3) Login with your Rockhurst username and password and make sure the provider is "Students"

4) Once logged in it will tell you that you are required to download and install the Clean Machines client aka the Smart Enforcer.

5) Click "Download CleanMachines Client" and when the box opens which asks to open or save, choose open.
6) It will say welcome to the smart enforcer setup wizard, click next, then for default destination click next and on the next page click install.
7) Once finished installing, check the box to "launch" the SmartEnforcer and click finish.

8) Even though it appears that nothing was launched in the previous step, you will see a light blue "e" icon in your system tray towards the right side of your task bar similar to the one below.

9) In order to login to the network now and in the future, you must right-click on the icon and choose "login".

10) This will bring up the Smart Enforcer and requires you to login with your Rockhurst account.

11) Once authenticated, it will scan your computer for vulnerabilities.

12)If your computer does not meet the minimum requirements, it will only give you temporary access to the websites that will help you.

13) Once you click continue, it will guide you through the steps that are necessary to update your computer.
14) The most common reasons will be updates for Windows, Virus software, and Virus definition files.
15) In the example below, this computer is not allowed access because it has no virus software.

16) If you click go to link, it will open a browser and take you to a site to help walk you through updating your machine.
17) Some of these sites will require you to login to gain access. If so, use Rockhurst\username for your username and your normal password as in the example.

18) Once finished, click next and once your machine has met all the minimum requirments, you will recieve a message similar to the one below.

19) Once you have this message, click ok and you will have normal network access.
20) The next time your computer is out of date, you will need to follow the instructions located at http://www.rockhurst.edu/perfigo and click where it says "Click here for windows users who already have "Smart Enforcer" installed."
21) To avoid having to scan your machine very often, make sure you stay current on your Windows Updates and your virus definition files.
