Rockhurst University magazine will reflect the depth and breadth of the Rockhurst community. It will celebrate and advance Rockhurst’s Jesuit mission and values, and instill a sense of pride in the University among alumni.

  • The Rockhurst community comprises students, faculty, staff and alumni united by an interest in the pursuit of truth and knowledge. The university seeks to develop the mind and spirit of each member of the community in a way that keeps the love of learning and the awareness of moral responsibility alive through all human experiences.

    • magazine will assist in this goal by publishing articles that challenge as well as inform readers. Each issue will feature a theme that unifies all major feature stories. Themes will be developed from topics and issues that relate to intellectual life on campus, those each of us face in everyday life and those we encounter on our faith journeys. The design will present a unifying graphic identity and draw readers into the articles.

  • Rockhurst is Catholic and Jesuit. Celebrating intellectual and religious values within an open and diverse community are central to its mission.

    • Rockhurst University magazine will seek out and present a variety of opinions, shared through the diverse voices of the Rockhurst community: faculty, students, staff and alumni.

    • Rockhurst University magazine will highlight the ways in which the Rockhurst community interacts with the greater Kansas City community. In light of Rockhurst’s Jesuit tradition, interaction and partnerships often center on service. Articles will be relevant to readers’ lives.

  • Rockhurst is often characterized as a community whose members engage in group discussions with lively interaction. It is one of the distinctive hallmarks of a Rockhurst education. This small, intimate intellectual community enhances interpersonal communication.

    • Rockhurst magazine will present feature articles that draw readers into this circle, engaging them with the discussion of issues that relate to campus life, life in modern society and the Jesuit search for God in all things. In addition, special sections — alumni news, alumni accomplishments, advancement and general Rockhurst news — will keep alive the special connections various groups have with the campus.
