Hawks earn spot in Academic Top 25 Honor Roll

The Rockhurst women’s basketball team finished in a tie for 25th in the nation among NCAA Division II institutions in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll.

The Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll Award recognizes teams throughout the nation that have the highest grade point averages (GPA) for the 2006-07 season based upon nominations submitted by WBCA-member coaches.

The Hawks finished with a 3.315 team GPA. Rockhurst was one of three Great Lakes Valley Conference teams to finish in the Academic Top 25. Lewis placed ninth with a 3.452 GPA and Northern Kentucky came in 15th with a 3.385 GPA.

“This is a well-deserved honor for our women,” said Rockhurst head coach Rebecca Morrisey, whose program also placed in the Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll in 2002 and 2003. “I am proud of the team’s commitment to excellence in the classroom.”
