Rockhurst Named to Community Service Honor Roll

Rockhurst University is among one of nine Jesuit institutions in the United States to be included on the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction.

The President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll is in its second year of publication and recognizes schools based on several factors, including the innovative quality and effectiveness of service projects, the number of participants involved in service endeavors and the amount of service-learning courses offered to students.

In all, 528 schools were listed on the Honor Roll for their community service activities during the 2006-2007 academic year. In addition, the Honor Roll also recognized 127 schools as Honor Roll with Distinction members and 391 schools as Honor Roll members. Rockhurst University’s designation under the Honor Roll with Distinction places it alongside Jesuit institutions such as Creighton University, Gonzaga University, Marquette University and Georgetown University.

The Corporation for National and Community Service, along with the Department of Education and several additional governmental organizations sponsor the honor roll program.
