Men’s Basketball: Hawks fall to Washburn at Sprint CenterNovember 20, 2012

Rockhurst committed 23 turnovers in falling to second-ranked Washburn 74-56 Tuesday as part of the Edward Jones CBE Hall of Fame Classic at the Sprint Center.

Washburn scored 25 points off of Rockhurst’s turnovers to pull away from the Hawks in the second half. The Ichabods closed the first half on a 14-2 run to take a 40-23 halftime lead.

The Hawks shot 48.9 percent from the field (22-of-45), while Washburn hit 26-of-57 field goals for 45.6 percent shooting. The Ichabods also won the rebound battle, 36-29.

James Robinson paced Rockhurst, 1-4, with 12 points and four assists. B.J. Dunbar posted 10 points, seven assists and three steals for the Hawks. Will McNeill led the Ichabods, 3-0, with 21 points, seven rebounds and four steals.

The Hawks hosts the Rock U Classic on Friday and Saturday. Avila, Missouri Western and Park join Rockhurst in the four-team event.
