Society of Jesus

St. Ignatius Loyola founded the Society of Jesus in 1540. Today the Society is the largest men’s religious order in the Roman Catholic Church: over 17,500 Jesuit priests and brothers serve in every part of the world. In the United States, Jesuits are affiliated with 28 colleges and universities and 46 high schools. In addition, Jesuits serve in parishes, retreat houses, and a host of other ministries.
