The Rockhurst educational ethic
In keeping with the centuries-old Jesuit tradition of educating the whole person, Rockhurst encourages students to question, to probe and to think for themselves. Students advance their knowledge and broaden their perspective through a balanced perspective between theory and application.

As a Jesuit university, Rockhurst is part of a select group of institutions of higher education. For more than 450 years, the Jesuits have been leaders in education. Rockhurst has constantly challenged conventional thinking and has sought to bring students to an awareness that they not only have a responsibility for developing themselves but society as a whole. It is in this spirit that the 28 Jesuit Colleges in the U.S. and the 60 international educational centers set forth this challenge.

Specifically related to business, a strong case can be made that the corporate sector has a crucial role to play in contemporary society. Essentially, the purpose of the Jesuits is to develop leaders who have a positive impact on their organizations and on society.

This value-centered pursuit of learning enables students to consider not only their personal and career concerns but also to look forward to even more active citizenship in the community.
