Data Science Certificates

Data science and predictive models are at the heart of many technology-based solutions to business issues. The need for qualified professionals who can understand, create, monitor and evaluate these analytics is high and growing rapidly.

In fact, a recent McKinsey Institute analysis predicts there will be a shortfall of 140,000 to 190,000 candidates with deep analytical talent, plus a need for an additional 1.5 million data-savvy managers by 2018.

That’s why we offer two unique data science graduate certificate programs to prepare you to advance your career in data science:

  • Data Science and Business Analytics
  • Data Science and Business Intelligence

Business Analytics Vs. Business Intelligence

The emphasis in business analytics certificate is more technical, offering you an in-depth look into the technical skills of data science. The emphasis in business intelligence certificate prepares you to enhance your technical skills at a more strategic level.

You’ll be taught using many of the common, typically open-source, data science tools, including:

  • R and RStudio
  • Python with Pandas
  • Tableau
  • MicroStrategy
  • Google Analytics
  • MySQL/Oracle
Program Design

These six course certificate programs consist of classes that meet one evening per week for eight weeks each. Taking one course per eight-week session, you would complete the certificate in about 15 months.

Classes are taught in a unique workshop format. Each week, students receive new datasets and learn methods to understand and analyze the data. Students are encouraged to use their own company’s data for each project, or we can supply datasets as needed.

Through this hands-on approach, you’ll learn to build predictive models, dynamic dashboards, and work with large data sets.
