Students apply for admission to the DPT/MBA dual degree program during the fall semester of their second year in the Rockhurst DPT program. Those admitted then become members of two cohort groups: their original DPT class and the DPT/MBA class.

Many elements of the DPT educational experience remain unchanged. For example, students continue to take DPT courses and may walk with original classmates at commencement.

Students in this cohort group begin MBA courses during the spring semester of the second year in the PT program. The addition of MBA courses to the curriculum necessitates that students complete their physical therapy clinical internships on a slightly different timeline than their original DPT classmates, meaning they complete all DPT program requirements in 3.5 years rather than the typical 3 years. These students then take the licensure exam and start clinical practice in physical therapy while continuing with MBA courses – on a part-time basis – for another year. All dual degree requirements are completed within four years of entry into the DPT program.
