Dr. Shih is a licensed psychologist. She received her M. Ed. and B.Ed. (both in Counseling) at National Changwha University of Education in Taiwan . She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and completed her pre-doctoral internship in Psychology at the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign Counseling Center. Before beginning her career at Rockhurst, Dr. Shih was a licensed psychologist at the University of North Dakota Counseling Center, where she worked for four years. She especially enjoys working with minority students, international students, and adults in general. She has received specialized training in eating disturbance treatment, sexual abuse and assault treatment. Her areas of clinical interest include cross-culture and gender issues, and how those issues are developed by their culture and by the socialization process. She is especially interested in understanding racial/ethnic identity, role and nature of counseling in non-Western cultures.
