Cheryl McConnell is the Dean for the Helzberg School of Management. Prior to this role, she served as interim dean and actively taught as a professor of accounting at Rockhurst with a primary teaching focus in auditing, financial accounting, fraud examination and intermediate accounting. Her research interests include accounting education, assessment and course design.

McConnell has received numerous awards including the 2011 Rockhurst University Faculty of the Year, along with the 2011 Helzberg School of Management Perfect Professor Award and the 2007 Helzberg School of Management Outstanding Professor of the Year.

A graduate of Wichita State University, Cheryl earned her Masters of Professional Accountancy degree and an accounting degree. She is a Certified Public Accountant.

Some of McConnell's published refereed journals articles and book chapters are, "Using a Common Experience to Teach Introductory Managerial Accounting," Journal of Instructional Pedagogies, Volume 4, 2010 (with Gail King) and "Student Reading Strategies and Textbook Use: An Inquiry Into Economics and Accounting Courses," Research in Higher Education Journal, Volume 3, May 2009 (with Laura Fitzpatrick).
