Musica Sacra (Latin for Sacred Music) Chorus & Orchestra performs sacred choral masterworks. It is the ensemble-in-residence at Rockhurst University, presented under the auspices of The Center for Arts and Letters. Dr. Timothy L. McDonald is the musical director and conductor of Musica Sacra.

Musica Sacra Chorus and Orchestra celebrates the 300th anniversary of the birth of the earliest member of the musical Puccini dynasty whin it performs Six Psalms and Magnificat by Giacomo Puccini the Elder, the great-great-grandfather of the opera composer by the same name.

Haydn, W.A. Mozart: Four of Kansas City's best-known professional vocalists join Musica Sacra as it concludes it's 21st season with a performance of Haydn's stellar "Lord Nelson" Mass. The work was composed in 53 days in 1798, during which time Nelson soundly defeated Napoleon's fleet in the Battle of the Nile. The ensemble also will perform the rarely heard Regina Coeli, KV 108 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, one of the composer's three setting of the Marian text.
