"Unearthed" Mark Cowardin and Michael Krueger

Artists Mark Cowardin and Michael Krueger's drawings, prints and sculptures address the destruction and carelessness caused by human beings' disregard for nature. Both artists visually and rigorously provoke and awareness of reckless self-interested consumption of resources and the destruction of human, animal and natural life. In the exhibit, the artists will draw inspiration from the socio-political and historic events that have impacted our environments.

Cowardin is an assistant professor at Johnson County Community College. He earned his M.F.A. in sculpture from the University of Arizona and has his B.F.A. from the University of Kansas. He has had solo and group enhibitions nationally and internationally.

Krueger is an assosiate professor of printmaking at the University of Kansas. He earned an M.F.A. from the University of Notre Dame and a B.F.A. from the University of South Dakota. His research has taken him all over the world, and has shown internationally and nationally.

The public is invited to hear the artists discuss their works at 6:30 p.m., followed by a reception from 7-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, in the Greenlease Gallery at Rockhurst University.
