Brian P. Hesse, BSBA ’93, MBA ’96

When you are involved with Rockhurst University for more than 17 years, the Rockhurst community begins to feel like family, says Brian Hesse, '93, '96. Originally from Wichita, Kan., Hesse credits the University scholarship he received through Rockhurst's prestigious Competitive Scholars program as an important factor in his college selection.

"Jesuits have done amazing things for me. Donating to Rockhurst University provides an opportunity to help someone who has the ability but not the means to experience a place that opens minds, challenges academically and furthers careers," Hesse says.

A very involved student leader during college, Hesse later worked for Rockhurst in Admissions, Greek Affairs and the School of Graduate & Professional Studies. Currently he works in marketing at Sprint and as an adjunct professor at RU. "Education has always been my passion. Giving back to Rockhurst allows me to take what I learned and shape the next generation."

Hesse recalls the influence of his favorite RU teachers. "Prof. Dick Shaw opened my eyes to the world of marketing and I knew that was the career for me. Dr. Curtis Hancock opened my mind to logic and I owe my love of philosophy to him."

Because his college experiences have led to successful professional and personal endeavors, Hesse gives back to Rockhurst financially to ensure the University continues to grow and prosper. He maximizes his donations through the ease of his company’s matching gift program.

"If you think about how much the Rockhurst experience meant to you, why wouldn’t you want to give back," Hesse says. "If it weren’t for people who gave to me, where would I be?"    < Back to Profiles
