Committees and Task Forces

The Rockhurst University Alumni Board of Directors is an elite group of people admitted by peers. The Alumni Board represents 16,000 alumni in Kansas City and throughout the country. Involvement in your alumni association can be what you make it; it can be limited to participation in a social event or ongoing participation on a committee. Be involved with your alma mater...it is very rewarding!

Alumni Association Committees

Nominations and Awards
The Nominations and Awards Committee not only identifies individuals to serve on the Alumni Board, but also helps nominate and award the annual alumni awards. The Alumni Awards given each year are:

  • Outstanding Service Award
  • Outstanding Achievement Award
  • Honorary Alumnus/na
  • Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee
  • Science Hall of Fame Inductee

Community Service
Finucane Service Project and working with the Troostwood Youth are just two examples of how alumni continue living the Jesuit mission of Learning, Leadership and Service.

Cultural, Spiritual and Educational (CSE)
The CSE Committee brings diversified events to alumni such as spiritual retreats, Christmas Lessons and Carols Program, Great Books Seminars, Alumni Rosary and Prayer for Peace, and Mass of Remembrance.

Regular Investors in Rockhurst (RIR)
The RIR Committee supports the University's fundraising efforts for the unrestricted annual fund. Committee members identify prospects and contact them via phone, personal visit, or letter. They also organize and participate in thank-a-thons to donors.

Social Committee
The Social Committee organizes opportunities for alumni to get together for enjoyment; sporting events, tailgates, art exhibits, golf tournaments, various classroom experiences and much more. Join this committee and help plan future events!

Student Relations Committee
This group works with the current student body of Rockhurst to establish ties between alumni and students. They work closely with the Student Alumni Association to develop events and programs aimed at endorsing responsibilities and opportunities as alumni while offering networking and leadership opportunities to the students.

Black Alumni Club (BAC)
BAC supports the Black Student Union, assists the University in recruiting and retaining minority students, and hosts events to raise money for minority scholarships.

Alumni Association Task Forces

Rockhurst Day
Rockhurst Day is a festive event that brings together generations of the Rockhurst Family to celebrate our brand-name for Homecoming. Join friends, students, faculty, staff and alumni for a wonderful day of fun and entertainment. Men’s and women’s soccer games serve as the anchor for surrounding activities including the Great Baby Race, carnival games and attractions for children, concessions, a beer garden, fireworks, chances to win prizes, and reminiscing with old friends while making new ones.

Gala
Be a part of Rockhurst's annual black tie fundraising event. All funds raised benefit student organizations and scholarships. This premiere event is held each fall.

Joseph M. Freeman, S.J. Golf Classic
The annual tournament is not only a great day of golf, but it also raises funds for Rockhurst athletic programs. Join the Golf Committee to plan a fun event on the greens.
