Taylor Saalfeld Junior, Marketing & nonprofit studies
I am a sophomore student who is double majoring in marketing and non-profit with a philosophy minor. I am originally from Omaha, Nebraska and attended Millard North High School. Here at Rockhurst I am involved with the honors program, Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity, Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority, and Dean's Student Advisory Board. I am also an Orientation Leader, Student Ambassador, Freshman in Business Seminar Facilitator and a Resident Assistant in the McGee dorm hall. I loved my first year at Rockhurst and really appreciate how special a Jesuit education truly is. Visit my blog. |
Daniel Stramara Jr., Ph.D. Assoc. prof., theology & rel. studies
My field is early Christianity and I also teach several courses on the Scriptures. But I love just about everything from history to biology to psychology to quantum physics. I enjoy traveling and lived in Europe. That’s how I met my wife in London. We have a beautiful daughter who’s another love of my life. Like I said, I like to travel but don’t get much of a chance with my job. Actually, it’s not a job at all; it’s a way of life. I love engaging students in thinking about major life issues, and experience this as equally life-giving. Visit my blog. |
Courtney Tiihonen Junior, Communication Science and Disorders & Philosophy
I am a junior majoring in Communication Science and Disorders with a minor in Philosophy. I play lacrosse from time to time with KC Women’s Select and during the spring I am the head coach for a girl’s youth lacrosse team. I would also love love LOVE to start a women’s lacrosse team here at Rockhurst. I am originally from O’Fallon, MO so I have fallen in love with the drive across Highway 70 back and forth from home and school, there is nothing better than my car windows down and my music turned up! I am looking forward to my third year at Rockhurst, and cannot wait for it to start! Visit my blog. |
Mindy
Walker, Ph.D. Assistant professor of biology
I received my B.S. and M.S. in Biology from
Lamar University, Beaumont, TX, and earned
my Ph.D. in Biology, with focus on mammalian
evolutionary genetics, from Texas A&M
University in 2005. I began
teaching in the Department of Biology at
Rockhurst University in 2006. I
have recently returned to conducting research
on reptiles and am excited to have the opportunity
to incorporate student contributions into
these studies. I am equally excited
to play a role in incorporating students
into the Rockhurst family by blogging about
my experiences as a member of the Rockhurst
community. Visit my blog. |
Sarah Farley Junior, Theology
My name is Sarah Farley, and I’m from St. Louis, MO…SoCo, baby! I’ m the youngest of four kids, and I have quite a large, close-knit extended family. I’m just ending my sophomore year here at Rockhurst. I’m majoring in Theology (possibly doubling in English, too) and getting a minor in Philosophy. I’m not sure what I’m going to be doing after school yet concerning a career, but I’m definitely going to be applying for the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. Here at Rockhurst I am involved in a few different groups and organizations. I’m the secretary of Hawks for Life, a member and leader in CLC, and I just recently joined APO, our co-ed service fraternity. There is so much that I love about Rockhurst: the classes and professors, the variety of organizations, the spiritual foundation, the opportunities to serve the community, and, most of all, the people. I’ve met so many truly incredible people that I’m now blessed enough to call my friends. These aren’t just people in my class either, I mean students, freshmen to seniors, to faculty and staff. Rockhurst is a wonderful community that gives you the sense of being home without actually being at home. That’s probably what drew me to this school the most. Visit my blog. |
Steven G Wilkinson, Ph.D. Asst. professor, physical therapy
After three years of applying to and being rejected from Physical
Therapy schools, I was finally accepted to Columbia University. I
graduated from Columbia earning my MS in Physical Therapy. I found an
outpatient job and a year later I was laid off and started working in
the acute setting which prompted my search for different options. I
started studying Biomedical Informatics (using computers in health care) and graduated from the University of Utah with MS and PhD degrees in Informatics. I am now teaching physical therapy here at Rockhurst. I intend to be instrumental in bringing Informatics and Physical Therapy together. Visit my blog. |
Craig
Sasse, Ph.D. Asst. professor of management
I teach courses
in management, strategy, and business communication;
my research interests include performance management,
corporate social responsibility, and student
learning. I am also a partner in the executive
development firm LeaderPoint, which serves
a number of national business clients in managerial
and leadership development. I look forward
to this blog project as a way to generate thinking
on how business and management connects with
the larger human and social context. At
least I’ll make a good try at this ... Visit my blog. |
