Are you interested in community service?
The Transfer Admission Office at Rockhurst University is excited to introduce a new scholarship opportunity for incoming fall 2009 transfer students - the Finucane Service Scholarship.
Finucane Service Scholarships are competitive scholarships awarded to Rockhurst University students each year. The recipients are leaders in service and, as such, are expected to continue their service leadership during their time at Rockhurst.
This scholarship is a renewable award valued at $1,500 per academic year, awarded to five entering full-time, day transfer students. These students must have, in addition to a sound academic record, demonstrated outstanding service in their communities, providing a written essay incorporating a thoughtful answer to the stated question below.
To apply, complete the following:
1. Reflect on your community service experiences during high school as well as your gifts and the needs of others and write an essay that is 1-2 pages in length which answers the following question:
What has service taught you — about yourself, about the world around you and about the importance of volunteerism — and how do you plan to use those skills and abilities during your years at Rockhurst University to be of service to others?
2. Write a service resume that lists your high school or college service experiences in detail: date range, organization, service activity and number of hours given in service.
3. To submit your application materials, contact Carrie Brun, Director of Transfer Admission via email at carrie.brun@rockhurst.edu. Or you may submit your application by mail:
