Admission Process

To apply to the OT program, students submit the following:

  • Application
    • OTCAS: Complete the application at OTCAS.org.
    • Rockhurst University undergraduate students do not need to apply to the program via OTCAS.  They can complete a paper application obtained from the Office of Graduate Admission.
  • Personal interview with a faculty member
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
  • TOEFL scores of at least 550 must be submitted by international students whose first language is not English

Important Dates

  • The 2013-14 OTCAS application cycle begins on July 17, 2013.
  • Deadline to submit application: January 1, 2014
  • Students will submit all required materials directly to OTCAS and must follow guidelines found on the OTCAS web site.

Notice to Applicants Offered OT Acceptance:
If you accept an offer of admission to Rockhurst University's OT program, you are required to submit a second set of official transcripts from every college/university you have attended directly to the OT program prior to attending. OTCAS cannot forward transcripts to Rockhurst University to fulfill this institutional requirement.

After all application materials are received, your file will be reviewed by a member of the Admission Committee to determine if you qualify for an interview. At that time, a personal interview will be scheduled between the applicant and a member of the occupational therapy faculty.

Application Timeline:

  • The Occupational Therapy Admissions Committee will begin reviewing all applicants beginning September 1, with a program enter date of the following year. Priority consideration will be given to Rockhurst University Pre-Admission and OT Scholar students and Avila University students meeting the terms of the contractual agreement with Rockhurst University.
  • Rockhurst Pre-Admission or OT Scholar students must complete the entire application (except for the interview) by September 1st of their Junior year. If they fail to apply by this date, they will lose their Pre-Admission or Scholar status and be considered among the regular applicant pool.
  • Rockhurst undergraduate students beginning the program during their senior year should apply early in their Junior year at Rockhurst for timely consideration.
  • Avila University students must complete the entire application (except for the interview) by September 1st of their Junior year. If they fail to apply by this date, they will lose their Pre-Admission status and be considered among the regular applicant pool. Please contact the Graduate Admission Office to obtain a paper application.

Enrollment is limited and early application is encouraged. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the professional program. If you have questions during the application process, please contact the Department of Occupational Therapy or Cheryl Hooper in Graduate Admissions.
