Developing Leaders for the Nonprofit Sector

Rockhurst University’s Nonprofit Leadership Studies program prepares students for successful careers and leadership roles with nonprofit organizations. Students achieve foundation and professional development competencies through coursework, hands-on learning through research and service work in the community, and an internship with a nonprofit organization.

Innovative courses, taught by professionals who work in local nonprofit organizations, allow you to engage in hands-on experiences and connect with the philanthropic and nonprofit community.

Through the School of Graduate and Professional Studies, students may pursue the following degrees and certificates:

Degree programs

  • Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Nonprofit Leadership Studies
  • Bachelor of Arts degree in Nonprofit Leadership with Fundraising concentration
  • Minor in Nonprofit Leadership Studies

Certificate programs

Internship program
Each degree-seeking student completes an internship with a nonprofit organization. This supervised learning experience provides an in-depth opportunity to learn firsthand about the host organization and the roles and responsibilities of its staff and volunteer leadership.

Why Rockhurst?
For more than 30 years, Rockhurst has provided quality nonprofit leadership education in the Jesuit tradition. Classes are available in the evening, with many courses in an accelerated seven-week format. Financial aid is available for qualifying students.

Rockhurst is an award-winning affiliated of the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance, consistently recognized for excellence in community service, fundraising, certification, research and program innovation. Rockhurst also partners with the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Mid America Chapter to offer outstanding Fundraising education.

Nonprofit Leadership Student Association
The campus organization of Nonprofit Leadership students meets regularly for professional development opportunities, service projects, networking and fundraising activities.
