Bachelor's Degree Programs

Rockhurst offers majors in elementary, middle, and secondary education leading to initial teacher certification. Undergraduate courses teach students to critically examine various educational philosophies and institutional arrangements.

Elementary Education Major 
The bachelor's degree in elementary education prepares students to teach in grades 1 through 6. Course completion form.

Middle School Education Major
The bachelor's degree in middle school education prepares students to teach in grades 5 through 9 in a specific certification area.  Middle school education certification areas students may choose include:

• language arts
• mathematics
• science
• social sciences

Secondary Education Major
The bachelor's degree in secondary education prepares students to teach in grades 9 through 12 in a specific certification area.  French or Spanish certification prepares students to teach grades K through 12. Secondary education certification areas students may choose include:

• English

• mathematics
• social sciences
• unified science (biology, chemistry and physics)
• Spanish
