Rockhurst University’s Department of Education offers a Master of Education degree with initial certification in grades K-12 for special education.
Students seeking a Master of Education degree with initial certification in special education will complete a minimum of 62 semester hours in education courses. This track is designed for those who desire to work with students in grades K-12 with special learning needs. Because special education teachers work with a variety of subject areas and a wide age range of student needs, their preparation will focus on the varying disabilities seen in children and methods for working with families of these children. Six special education courses (PDF) specifically focused on special education will complement our master of education curriculum.
