Courtesy Card

The Greenlease Library is also involved in a reciprocal program in the area which allows a Rockhurst University student to check materials out of other libraries. This is the Courtesy card program. This program requires the library patron to obtain a library card from their institutional library. Rockhurst students would therefore get a card from the Greenlease Library in order to borrow materials from these other libraries.

The Courtesy Card program is administered by the University of Missouri-Kansas City libraries. Complete details about the program are available on the UMKC libraries website.

Rockhurst University students or staff should contact a librarian at 816-501-4188 about how to obtain a card. Cards will only be given to those students whose research needs cannot be satisfied by sole use of the Greenlease Library. The Librarian will determine these situations. The Librarian is available Monday - Friday during normal business hours of 8am-4:30pm.

The Courtesy card Program involves the following institutional libraries who are not MOBIUS members:

The following Rockhurst University patrons will NOT be issued a Courtesy card:

Students or staff with prior overdues from any Courtesy Card participating library

Students with current Rockhurst overdues

Students or staff with a history of overdues from Rockhurst

Students with unresolved overdues and fines will have their grades, registration, transcripts, diplomas and other accounts held by the Business and Registrar offices.

Borrowing materials from these other libraries is a privilege, not a right. Any persons abusing the borrowing privileges will not be issued another card. The librarians have the right to refuse to issue a card due to previous violation of the program guidelines or if the librarian determines that the guidelines for issuing a card have not been met. Patrons are responsible for all fines and charges incurred from using the card.

The following libraries in the Courtesy Card program are MOBIUS members. Rockhurst students, faculty and staff may check out directly from these libraries through the MOBIUS Visiting Patron program. No Courtesy Card need be issued for these libraries.
