To improve the lives of those living in poverty, Rockhurst Physical Therapy students visited Guatemala, a land scarred by social injustice, violence, and upheaval.

During Spring Break, students shared an enriching experience known as Rockhurst University’s “World of Service.” This year’s trip took us to Guatemala, where 85% of the population lives in poverty without adequate health care, education, housing or employment.

Our “World of Service” brought a more dignified way of life to others by:

• Improving medical care by teaming with local doctors
  
• Expanding education through in-service training for nurses
  
• Offering free clinic services in towns and villages
  
• Promoting community and family health through informational events
  
• Joining a construction crew to build dwellings
  
• Befriending families and local citizens

Coordinated by Rockhurst University’s Student Development Team in partnership with Guatemala’s “Proyecto de Salud Sangre de Cristo” (Blood of Christ Health Project).
