Physics of Medicine Minor

Physics of Medicine

Rockhurst offers a Physics of Medicine (POM) program designed to deepen students’ understanding of physics principles and the applicability of those principles to medicine and the health care field. The Physics of Medicine curriculum provides excellent preparation for graduate study in Medicine, Physical Therapy, Medical Physics, OT, CSD, Pharmacy and research science positions.  To suit your interests and career goals, you can choose to take courses as a Physics of Medicine Minor, a Medical Physics Major Track or as electives.  Advantages to students of this program are:

  • Deeper understanding of physics principles and their applicability to a medical or health care career.
  • Stronger post-graduate application to competitive medical, research and health care programs.
  • Undergraduate research opportunities – potential for capstone area or future graduate work.
  • Value to students of interdisciplinary study, allowing them to tie together coursework in science/math with professional goals.
