The Lakas English Scholarship is available for the qualified prospective student who wishes to pursue a major or minor English at Rockhurst. A portfolio
of the student's current work must be submitted
to the chair of the English Department. For
application materials, please call Dr. John Kerrigan (816) 501-4315.
The Thomas F. Heitlinger Scholarship benefits deserving English majors thanks to the generosity of
alumnus Louis J. Heitlinger, who established this award to honor his brother, Thomas, also a Rockhurst alumnus, who died at a young age. The scholarship requires applicants to have a minimum of a 3.2 GPA and demonstrated financial need. Please contact the English Department chair for further information.
Plays in Progress Workshop is

The English Club The Walter J.
Ong Society is an exciting and active English
club for people
from all disciplines who enjoy both discussing and writing
literature. Our goals are to foster
intellectual exchange between students in the
realm of literature, criticism, and creative
writing. Every year the students of the Walter
J. Ong Society participate in
literary-related events such
as
poetry readings, book clubs, workshops, and the
Annual Marathon Reading. We are open to all students
who have a love for literature and creative writing
in all forms. We especially encourage the participation
of freshmen who are still wondering about their
majors. For further information, contact Dr.
Kovich at (816) 501-4034.
