The Center for Arts and Letters
Offering a range of cultural experiences such
as lectures, performances, and readings, the Center
supports the University's mission of inculcating
a love of learning and an awareness of moral responsibility.
Specifically, several of its ongoing projects are
under the supervision of English Department Faculty:
The Rockhurst Review is published annually
through the English Department. This journal now
presents refereed professional and undergraduate
prose and poetry on an annual basis. The Editor-in-Chief,
Dr. Patricia Cleary Miller, supervises the all-student
staff as a year-long commitment to excellence in
writing.
Plays in Progress is a twice
yearly production of professional and student playwriting
efforts. Dr. Charles Kovich, as Managing Director,
supervises the student-run program that has found
a sturdy support in the Rockhurst community
as well as the greater Kansas City area.

Alpha Sigma Nu National Jesuit Honor Society
Founded in 1915, Alpha Sigma Nu honors a select
number of Junior and Senior students each year
on the basis of scholarship, loyalty to Jesuit
ideals, and service to the college or community.
The Honor Society attempts to stimulate intellectual
life for students, and membership is one of the
highest honors that can be given on any Jesuit
campus.
Advanced College Credit Program (ACCP)
This program, established in 1970, is designed
to provide academically gifted and well-prepared
students commensurate opportunity for enrichment
and acceleration in their high school environment.
Under this program, a high school student can acquire
advanced college credit which may then be transferred
to a college permanent record at the discretion
of the receiving institution. All courses are taught
by high school faculty whose credentials have been
approved by Rockhurst and who are mentored
by selected English faculty.
