Ignatian Outstanding Student Teacher Award
The Department of Education awards the Ignatian Outstanding Student Teaching Award to undergraduate and graduate students at Rockhurst University who actively seeks opportunities to promote Ignatian Pedagogy. The preservice teachers consistently model the ideals and principles of the Rockhurst University Department of Education conceptual framework and the State of Missouri Beginning Teacher Standards. The Ignatian Outstanding Student Teacher understands that teaching is necessarily a value-laden activity. During the professional semester of their academic career, these nominees consistently strive for the “magis” on the moral consequences of instructional and curricular decisions. The award is presented to Education students who go beyond the mastery of the skills and understandings normally found in the well-informed and competent students. “Magis” refers not only to academics, but also to action with reflection and discernment.
