The art faculty's individualized interaction with students is what makes Art at Rockhurst stand out. Experienced, knowledgeable faculty members provide one-on-one attention to students in regard to classroom instruction, creative expression and advising.
The philosophy of the art program rests on the belief that art is not an ornament to education but an essential way of grounding knowledge in experience. The arts present the human rather than the theoretical implications of knowledge. As part of the art minor, students are exposed to a combination of art history and studio work.
All students interested in art are encouraged to become involved with the art club and the annual Festival of Student Achievement, an exhibit in which students of all disciplines display their work.
