The Biology Department has the goal of preparing students for careers in biological disciplines by providing them with a firm and broad foundation in biology. This foundation encompasses molecular, cellular, and organismal biology with the opportunity to apply and extend this knowledge in all applicable areas of biology e.g., genetics, microbiology, medicine, animal behavior, physiology, and evolution. The Department also seeks to instill in students a deep respect for, and understanding of, the principles of research, both in the laboratory and in literature, always with a view to promote intellectual honesty.
