How Article Linker Works Within A Database
Rockhurst University Greenlease Library uses the
service Article Linker by Serials Solutions to
link to all electronic copies of periodical titles (magazines,
journals and newspapers) owned by the library. In addition,
if the library subscribes to a periodical in print,
microfiche or microfilm, Article Linker links to the
library catalog to find periodicals in this format.
Article Linker works within
most of the databases to which the library subscribes,
but not all. If you do not see a link to full text at
Rockhurst University's library in a database, this means
that the database cannot work with Article Linker at
this time.
1. Conduct a search in the
database of your choice: Subject
List of Library Databases or Alphabetical
List of Library Databases. If you are off campus
when trying to search for articles you must first enter
the library's website through the VPN proxy server on
the Off Campus Access to Library
Databases page. Return to this page through VPN in order
to continue.
2. In your search result
the citations to articles show the title of the article.
If the full-text of the article is available within
the database it will be indicated by the words "HTML","
PDF" or "Text". Click on a version of
the article to display the full text.
3. If the full text of the
article is not available within the database
you are using, click on Link to full text at the
Rockhurst University Library (the exact language
for the link varies in each database). This link will
take you to the Article Linker page showing links to
the full text through other databases to which the Rockhurst
University Library subscribes or will link you to the
list of periodicals to which the library subscribes.
4. If the article is available
online, link directly to it by clicking on Article.
5. Some online articles are
linked to the Journal. After clicking on this
link type in the name of the article, or cut and paste
it from the top of the Article Linker page, and search
the journal title for that specific article.
6. The Database link
will take you to the database in which the article resides
where you can begin a new search if you wish.
7. If there is no link to
the periodical, use the Additional Options listed
at the bottom of the screen.
A. Get article from another library by ordering
a copy through the Interlibrary Loan service.
B. Search Local Library Catalogs to find a
local library that has the periodical. You can go
to the library yourself and make your own copies.
C. Ask a Librarian for help if you need it.
8. Search for full text journals at the Rockhurst
University Library will allow you to identify periodicals
the library collection.
